If you're a skateboarder, your best options for top-quality gear and expert advice can be found in the state's cool, locally-owned shops. It doesn't matter if you need a brand new board or your current board needs a tune-up, these Wyoming shops have you covered. Here are our favorites.
Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming, and even at more than 7,000 feet of elevation, students are gonna skate. In Laramie, skaters hit up Actionball Boardsports for decks, trucks, and all their other skating needs. When winter seizes the sidewalks, you’ll also find plenty of snowboarding gear at Actionball.
In Gillette, skaters rely on Primetime Paintball and Skateboards to keep themselves up and rolling. Primetime has a large selection of boards, wheels, trucks, and other crucial gear. They also offer service and sell a variety of shoes, sunglasses and other apparel.
Another option for skaters in Laramie is All Terrain Sports. Although they’re not a dedicated board shop, All Terrain carries respected brands like Gravity and Sector 9 skateboards. They’re experienced, knowledgeable staff will help get you rolling on the right board right away.
Gannett Peak Sports, in Lander, carries a solid selection of boards, decks, wheels, trucks, bearings, and even tools. Even though they’re not a board-only shop, they have some of the state’s best skate offerings. The brands they carry include Element, Flip, Paris Trucks, and Lucky Bearings.
Skaters in the Powell area can look to Larsen’s Bicycles for their skate gear. They carry decks, trucks, wheels and accessories, as well as complete boards. Although the selection is not huge, the fact that it’s there at all will save you a road trip or waiting for your online order to arrive.
Folks in the Cowboy State don’t have to look very far for a custom longboard. Kracked Skulls Longboards, based in Lovell, allows you to pick one of their high-quality custom decks, choose the trucks, wheels and bearings to go with it, and then add on options, like grip or extra glass.
