An oasis we did not expect to find. Pulled off I-25 for a pit stop and discovered this wonderful museum. Tells the story of the many pioneer trails that passed through Wyoming, Oregon, Mormon, Gold Rush, even the Pony Express and more. Free! Great hill top setting and a well designed building operated by the US Bureau of Land Management. You can spend minutes or an hour or two there.

Interesting site to learn about the trails (gold rush, Oregon, Mormon) that passed through Casper WY. There was some info in the Pony Express as well. Lots of interactive displays. It was also wheelchair friendly.

A great place to learn about the area's past. They have sections about the area's native American tribes, mountain men ( my dream job as a child), and the pioneers. They also have an area with special displays they are always worth a visit. The employees are knowledgeable and there to answer questions. I go every few months.
