Such a fun place to visit! The dam is absolutely SPECTACULAR and so cool to see. The visitor center offers little shuttle carts to and from the parking area (though the walk really isn't outrageous, or anything). The center offers a nice view overlooking the downstream side of the dam. It has a small film area featuring a short documentary on the dam's history and construction, and some fun interactive displays that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

Beautiful place to visit. Visitor center staff are friendly. Full of educational info and has a gift shop (good prices). A quick must see. Dog friendly. Public restrooms.

We were surprised to find as much historical material here about the dam as there is. They also have a gift shop with a stamp for the national park passports. And of course the views are breathtaking - the roar of the dam is near defeating, but there is quite the serenity to it. It is too bad there isn't a place to sit and relax outside or have a picnic lunch. Still very worth the visit!

BBD is FREE. I kid you not. Drive west out of Cody, through three tunnels and on your left is a parking lot. Walk a short way to the dam, rides are available if you cannot make it. There is a great self guided tour featuring the history of the dam and the area including a small town that was inundated when the gates were closed. You can walk the top of the dam which is especially fun during the spring run off and the overflow gates are open. The entire area is gorgeous and whether you stop or not you will enjoy this part oft wyoming.
