The 8 Best Fall Festivals in Wyoming!

When the air in the mountains and across the high plains takes on a bit of a chill and the deciduous trees start to show a little color, folks in the Cowboy State get ready to celebrate autumn and all that it has to offer. So, whatever your fall favorite is—beer, pumpkins, apples, corn mazes—you’re sure to find a celebration to fit your appetite. These are our favorite fall festivals in Wyoming.

Apple Festival, Ten Sleep, WY

The Apple Festival is one of the most popular annual events at Circle J Ranch in Ten Sleep Canyon. In addition to apple picking and bobbing for apples, there will be live music, dancing, a pow wow, s’mores, a bon fire, horseshoes, a raffle, and horse and buggy rides, as well as face and pumpkin picking. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that there’s plenty of apple pie on hand, to boot.

Pumpkin’ Chunkin’ & Harvest Fall Festival, Laramie, WY

Every September the fine folks of Laramie—and anyone else looking for some raucous fall fun—gather at the Albany County Fairgrounds to watch teams try and launch pumpkins as far as possible and take home the “Lord of the Gourd” title. In addition to the projectiles, festival goers will find food, contests, kids games, vendors and photo booths. All proceeds help local charitable organizations.

Cheyenne Greek Festival, Cheyenne, WY

Not all fall festivals have to be about pumpkin pie and apple cider and fall colors. Some center around things like baklava and spanakopita—like the Cheyenne Greek Festival. This annual mid-September event has been an autumn staple in southeast Wyoming for more than three decades. Opa!

Grand Targhee Oktoberfest, Alta, WY

Every year, in mid-September visitors to the Grand Targhee resort hoist their glasses to ring in the beginning of Oktoberfest. The festival centers, of course, around beer and brats. In addition, you’ll find a classic car cruise, plenty of games and contests for the whole family to enjoy. Live music will be on hand and polka lessons will be available.

Snowy Mountain Brewery Beerfest, Saratoga, WY

Folks who like a little beer with their fall will be very pleased to learn that Snowy Mountain Brewery hosts an annual fall Beerfest. The festival takes place in mid-October and includes a weekend of craft-beer sampling from local (Wyoming and northern Colorado) brewers, German-themed food and live music. Packages with accommodations for the weekend are available.

Rendezvous Royale, Cody, WY

Celebrate western arts in Cody at the annual five-day Rendezvous Royale. Seminars, gallery tours, exhibitions, a nationally-recognized art show and an auction are capped off with a ball. The festival is community wide and open to anyone who loves—or has an interest in—western art and craftsmanship.

Oktoberfest, Casper, WY

Oktoberfest in Casper is an awesome way to celebrate the region’s—Wyoming, Montana and Colorado—booming craft beer scene while helping to grant wishes for Wyoming children in need. In addition to beer supplied by several local businesses, there will be dancing, music and brats, all to benefit Make-A-Wish Wyoming.

Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, Jackson, WY

The Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival is an annual October event in Jackson Hole. The festival celebrates science and nature and the ways in which they interact with our everyday lives. The festival will include food vendors, hands-on science booths, a family science fair and activities such as stargazing, fossil digging, robotics and even forensics.
